B. Appl. Sc. (Env. Biology), Adv. Dip. Busn. Mgmt, MEIANZ, MAIBiol, MECA Brian has over 30 years experience in flora and fauna surveys, environmental impact assessment and environmental management. He was awarded his Applied Science degree in 1978 while working as a Technical Officer at the University of Technology, Sydney. He worked as a Technical Officer at NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service on some of the first broad-scale surveys of forest fauna in NSW with the Five Forests Survey Team near Bega during 1981.
Brian then moved on to gain NATA quality accreditation for and manage an Environmental Testing Laboratory for Croft & Associates/Envirosciences, ultimately becoming Senior Ecologist and a Director of Envirosciences. Brian established Ecotone Ecological Consultants Pty Ltd in 1983 and is currently Managing Director, supervising a professional staff of 5 ecologists and the administration of the firm.
Brian has contributed to many voluntary fauna surveys throughout eastern Australia as part of a survey team of the Royal Zoological Society of NSW and for NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. He also taught Biology and Ecology for TAFE on a part-time basis for several years. Brian was instrumental in establishing the Ecological Consultants Association of NSW (ECA) in 1999. |

Biol. Techn. Cert., MECA
Ray has over 30 years experience in the field survey and captive management of fauna. Ray emigrated to Australia to take up a position at Adelaide Zoo and then moved to NSW to work at the Australian Reptile Park at Gosford in the early 1970s. From 1975 to 1992 Ray was Technical Officer in Charge of the Cowan Research Station of the University of NSW maintaining populations of native mammals for research purposes. During this time Ray established the Royal Zoological Society of NSW (RZS) Mammal Section Field Survey group which carried out voluntary surveys throughout eastern Australia leading to several range extensions, particularly for arid zone species.
Ray is currently Vice-Chairman of the RZS Wildlife Section and represents the ECA on the Port Stephens Comprehensive Koala Plan of Management Steering Committee. Ray also taught Animal Care for TAFE for several years on a part-time basis. He joined Ecotone Ecological Consultants in 1992 and has held the positions of Senior Ecologist (Fauna) and Director since that time. Ray was a team leader for fauna surveys as part of the Comprehensive Regional Assessments (CRA) for DECC and carried out very extensive fauna surveys for the State Forests of NSW EIS process in the mid 1990s.
In 2001, Ray supervised a comprehensive audit of existing threatened fauna records, extensive fauna surveys and subsequent mapping of threatened fauna distribution using the firm’s Mapinfo GIS for the Lower Hunter and Central Coast Regional Environmental Management Strategy. He has written a number of articles and papers on Australian Fauna and co-authored the book Caring for Wallabies and Kangaroos in 1999. Ray is recognised as an authority on micro-bats in NSW and his photography has been included in various publications and the former National Photographic Index of Australian Wildlife. |

B. Sc. (Biological Sciences), M. Env. Studies, MAIBiol, MECA
Stefan has over 20 years experience in botanical studies and environmental management. After being awarded his Science degree in 1979, Stefan joined the National Herbarium in Sydney as Herbarium Assistant. He moved to a Technical Officer position with the School of Botany at the University of NSW in 1980 and progressed to Senior Biological Scientist before leaving the University in 1998. He was awarded a Master of Environmental Studies degree in 1996. Stefan is an accredited BioBanking Assessor.
Stefan worked as a Biological Consultant with Australian Museum Business Services from 1998 to 1999 before joining Ecotone Ecological Consultants as Botanist/Ecologist in 1999. He has written several scientific papers on weed invasion and pest management in bushland areas of Sydney. Stefan now manages large ecological studies for the firm including major transmission line and other infrastructure development projects throughout NSW. |

Anne has specialist experience in the management of threatened mammals in captive breeding programs, particularly arid zone mammals. She has worked on a number of such programs at the Yookamurra Sanctuary in South Australia and at the Scotia Sanctuary in south-western NSW using radio telemetry to monitor the ecology of Numbats, Bilbies and other rare fauna. Anne has contributed to many voluntary fauna surveys between 1975 and the present throughout eastern Australia as part of a survey team of the Royal Zoological Society of NSW.
Anne has considerable experience in wildlife photography, environmental education for small children, animal behaviour, and has over 25 years experience in the care and rearing of young or injured wildlife (co-author of Caring for Wallabies and Kangaroos in 1999). Anne is currently a member of the Animal Care and Ethics Committee for Forests NSW. She is also an accomplished wildlife artist using a range of media. |

Wendy has over 20 years experience in biological sciences and environmental education. Wendy has specialist training and expertise in environmental education and training. Wendy has taught environmental studies to students at both secondary and tertiary levels for many years. |

Anna is the cheery voice you hear on the phone when you ring our office. Anna has been with Ecotone since 1997 and looks after office administration and financial documentation for the business. This includes cataloguing and filing reports generated by the firm. Anna ensures that accurate records of hours and expenses are kept for all projects and staff. |

Adam Greenhalgh (Fauna Ecologist/Pest Management Officer)

B. Sc. (Resource and Environmental Management), Certificate II Conservation and Land Management (Natural Area Restoration), MECA
While studying at University, Jenny worked part-time for the Macquarie University School of Biological Sciences as a research assistant and also assisted with live exhibits in the School’s Museum. Since being awarded her Science degree in 2000, Jenny has acquired a number of years experience as a bush regenerator in Sydney working for Urban Bushland Management (UBM) and Pittwater Council. In 2002, Jenny worked for Birds Australia as an Assistant Warden at Broome Bird Observatory, taking part in shorebird and benthos surveys and ongoing monitoring programs. Since joining Ecotone in 2004, Jenny has been involved in field survey work, report writing, mapping and GIS for the firm. |

B. Sc. (Hons) Ecology
Amy has many years experience in the care and handling of captive or injured wildlife and assisting with fauna surveys throughout NSW. In 2001, Amy completed her honours degree examining the ecology of insectivorous bats in the arid zone. Amy has completed Tree Climbing Techniques 1 at TAFE in order to more efficiently and safely implement the many nest box installation and monitoring programs forming part of Bushland Management Plans being co-ordinated by the firm. She now carries out field surveys, report writing, mapping and GIS for the firm. |

Certificate II Conservation and Land Management (Natural Area Restoration)
Narawan has many years’ experience in the care and handling of captive or injured wildlife and assisting with fauna surveys throughout NSW including DECC CRA surveys. He is currently contracting to NSW DECC as a fauna specialist to assist with large-scale fauna surveys in Wollemi National Park. Narawan has completed an introductory GIS course and also Tree Climbing Techniques 1 at TAFE in order to more efficiently and safely implement the many nest box installation and monitoring programs forming part of Bushland Management Plans being co-ordinated by the firm. |

B. Appl. Sc. (Natural Resource Management)
After being awarded his Applied Science degree in 2000, Peter commenced work as a field assistant on ecological survey projects in coastal NSW. Since that time Peter has gained a number of years experience as a wildlife ecologist and has also worked as a wildlife guide and bush regenerator. From 2005 to 2006 Peter was employed as a field ecologist with NSW NPWS and then moved to Baulkham Hills Shire Council as their Flora and Fauna Projects Officer. From 2003 to the present, Peter has been undertaking a research project on Yellow-bellied Gliders in The Hills Shire (formerly Baulkham Hills Shire Council) and currently has a research paper in preparation. |

Adam’s professional experience began as a Field Officer for NSW NPWS where he gained experience in wildlife management and general park maintenance and management. While completing university studies, Adam gained knowledge and training in a broad range of areas from land degradation and rehabilitation to ecological engineering. Since graduating from university Adam has applied himself to a wide range of projects as an Environmental Contractor/Consultant. Adam is also experienced in pest management, having assisted in the review of the Northern Rivers Region Pest Management Strategy and created and implemented management strategies for Cane Toads and Wild Pigs.
Prior to joining Ecotone, Adam worked in the water management industry for Boyden & Partners. Projects included irrigation scheme modernisation, catchment management, water recycling and re-use, stormwater management, Water Sensitive Urban Design and constructed wetlands. |
